I am a doctoral candidate with Kathryn Lindsay. My research makes use of the recent Breeding Bird Atlas of Ontario volunteer-collected dataset, to investigate the distribution of avian biodiversity across the province, exploring spatial patterns of similarity among habitat and migratory guilds. While this has direct theoretical implications, my primary focus remains practical; I aim to identify efficient and complementary regions of biodiversity in order to better inform conservation managers and landscape planners. In doing so, I will also assess the ability of rare species to serve as indicators of high quality habitat and hotspots of biodiversity. I am also an active participant at carleton's campus radio station,, and in promoting the free exchange of information in all areas of society.
